INSTRUCTIONS :
As a precautionary measure to prevent students from losing their work, students are asked to type all of their responses to the prompts and issues in a word processing program like Word, OpenOffice, Notepad, or Google Docs first, and then copy/paste their content into the comment box or email to the instructor.
EXPECTATIONS :
Students are expected to show up on time to class, be present (no cell phones, texting, ipods, etc.), and to follow up with the instructor on missed course material if they are late or absent. Grading is weighted heavily on attendance and participation (60%), as this is frequently a conversation heavy course. However, students who have perfect attendance and participate fully in discussions should not necessarily expect a passing grade, as course assignments are just as much of a component of the class as group discussions are (40%). Five unexcused tardies equals one unexcused absence, and each unexcused absence is subtracted from the total number of classes in the term. Your final attendance grade is the percentage of classes you attended in comparison to the number of classes offered. As stated before, this frequently a conversation based class, so if you are not present or engaging in group activities or classroom discussions you shouldn’t expect a high mark under participation.
